[ INTERVIEW QUESTION ] Hardware failure in your ESXi hypervisor.

Impressive answer! Scenario: In the case of hardware failure in your ESXi hypervisor, what things first you need to perform? This is your best answer... During the hardware failure, I first evacuate all the virtual machines to other hosts and put the host in maintenance mode in vSphere. I will check the iLO/iDRAC management console for the exact hardware that is failed and request a replacement. If it has causes Purple Screen Of Death (PSOD), I will fetch the logs and open a case with VMware or hardware vendor.

Whoever is asking will be impressed if you also mention... The most common causes for a PSOD are: (1) Hardware failures, mostly RAM or CPU related. They normally throw out a “MCE” or “NMI” error. (2) Software bugs. I can even manually trigger a PSOD for testing purposes, if I'm just curious to see it happen. I can run:
vsish -e set /reliability/crashMe/Panic
